Classic Luxury vs Modern Boutique

The vast majority of hotels will have one of these two styles. Here are some comparisons.

Classic Luxury

Imagine the Grand Lobby, the Heritage Haveli and the Mountain Lodge.

Best for:

  • Hotels with five-star ratings and heritage hotels.
  • Weddings, events and banquet halls
  • Visitors who are looking for a more formal and elegant stay,
  • Interiors are made of wood, marble and brass.

Modern Boutique

Consider Boutique Teal, Urban Loft and Coastal White.

Best for:

  • Small hotels with a character
  • City for young travellers
  • Rooms that inspire people to post photos on Instagram.Lobby and rooms that are Instagram worthy.
  • Brands that wish to appear fresh, but not formal

I suggest you choose colors that go with your room rates. Older travelers favor vibrant and lively rooms, while more price-conscious guests are drawn to the deep and rich sounds.

These palettes are designed to help you use the software.

Website

  1. Choose the lightest colour you can for your booking page background.
  2. Use the darkest colour for text and headings.
  3. Use one accent colour for buttons such as ‘Book your stay’.

Signage & Packaging

  1. Use a color converter to convert HEX codes to CMYK prior to printing.
  2. Utilize one primary color on key cards, room signs and welcome kits.
  3. Print one sample key card first because colors might appear more muted on paper and plastic.

Social Media

  1. Choose one ‘room tour’ background colour and serve up posts.
  2. Use same 2-3 colours for text and Story stickers.
  3. Check your grid. It should be the look of one hotel, not ten.

CSS Snippet

css

:root {
  --hotel-dark: #1A1A1A; /* text */
  --hotel-gold: #B8934A; /* buttons */
  --hotel-sand: #E9DFCC; /* sections */
  --hotel-light: #FAF7F0; /* background */
}

Copy and paste this into your style sheet, and then apply the var(--hotel-gold) variable to any element that you want the color to appear in.

Pro Tip

Take a journey at the heart of the guest. Review your colors on the booking site, entrance sign, lobby, key card and guest room.

The colour changes from one step to another will not leave a memorable impression on the guest. Use the same 2-3 colours throughout.

I found myself in the ambiance of Naturals Club & Resort and I knew I had made the right decision by choosing the appropriate colors to make the hotel beautiful and serene.

In my view, shades of green, khaki and soft cream with wooden furniture and natural light can give a new and fresh look and feel.

The incorporation of gardens/vegetation into the design also gives the space a more natural atmosphere.

In addition, attention to cleanliness, adequate lighting and an appropriate furniture arrangement is important for providing a comfortable environment for visitors.

FAQ

What are the best colors for a hotel?

The safest base colors are neutral colors such as cream, beige and grey. Luxury hotels look good in gold colors and deep hues, resorts in blues and teals.

What is the optimum number of colors for a hotel brand?

My suggestions are 3-4 primary colors (one dark, one light, and 1-2 accent). But, anything more than that gets messy.

Do these palettes have any restrictions on their use?

Yes. Utilize them for your logo, rooms, key cards, website or menus. No credit needed.

Which colours are best suited in hotel rooms?

The wall colors are soft to encourage guests to unwind. Use cushions, art and other small details to add your brand accent colour.
