Cool Greens & Blues is contrasted with Warm Sands & Blush. This is contrasted with Warm Sands & Blush.

Most spas are one of these two moods. Let’s take a closer look at the similarities and differences.

Cool Greens & Blues

Consider Eucalyptus Mist, Ocean Calm, and Moonlight Blue.

Best for:

  • Hydrotherapy, steam rooms, and pools!
  • Detox and cleansing treatments.
  • The spas are located close to the sea or resorts.
  • Brands looking for a new look and feel for themselves.

Warm Sands & Blush

Consider Himalayan Salt, Desert Clay, and Rose Quartz Ritual.

Best for:

  • Massage and body treatment rooms are also available.
  • Wigs, Hairstyles, and beauty salon services.
  • In colder cities, cozy spas can be found that offer a relaxing retreat.
  • Brands seeking to be comforting and caring

To me, choose the primary treatment’s tone. Water/Detox is a cool tone, warm tones are for massage and touch.

These palettes are used as follows:

Website

  1. Set the background colour of your page to be the lightest colour.
  2. Use the darkest colour for text and headings.
  3. Use one of the soft accent colors for buttons such as “Book a treatment.”

Signage & Packaging

  1. Use a color converter to convert HEX colors to CMYK prior to printing.
  2. Use one brandy colour on price menus, gift cards and product labels.
  3. Print 1 sample menu first as colors are sometimes darker on paper.

Social Media

  1. Choose one background color to treat and provide posts.
  2. Use the same 2-3 colours to write text and Story stickers.
  3. Check your grid. It should appear like one serene spa, not ten.

CSS Snippet

css

:root {
  --spa-dark: #3A4A41; /* text */
  --spa-sage: #5F7A6B; /* buttons */
  --spa-mist: #CFDCD3; /* sections */
  --spa-light: #F3F6F2; /* background */
}

Copy and paste the following into your stylesheet and then you can use var(--spa-sage) throughout your document for that color.

Pro Tip

Test colors in low light conditions of the spa. Treatment rooms tend to be dark and the lighting is warm, from lamps or candles.

Light colors will look muddy or grey in low-light conditions. Before making a decision, test paint samples and fabric with the lights turned down.

It was during my stay at ‘Move Better’ that I came to understand the importance of selecting the right colors and interior decoration for a wellness centre or spa.

I think the key is finding a balance between light greens, soft blues and natural hues to create a modern, yet relaxing ambiance.

However, attention to cleanliness, adequate lighting, and good organization are also important, as these features all contribute to a more professional and inviting atmosphere.

FAQ

Which colors are best for a spa?

Softer greens, blues and warm neutrals are relaxing and refreshing. For luxury spas, choose gold or dark wood colors.

What’s the ideal number of colors for a spa brand?

My suggestions are 3-4 primary colors, with one dark, one light, and a soft accent or two. Over that is too busy.

Do these palettes have any restrictions?

Yes. For logo, wall, menus, website or product labels. No credit needed.

What colors are most relaxing for a spa?

Colors that are muted and low in brightness, such as sage, mist blue, sand, and blush, are best. Do not use strong red or neon colors in the treatment room.
