Law Firm Color Palettes

Use these colours from law firms for your logo, Law Firm Sign, website, business cards and social media.

They are designed for lawyers, law firm owners, legal marketing teams and anyone who is developing a legal brand.

The color scheme, interior design and décor at Barak Zai & Sons Law Associates’ office were really appreciated of me.

Staff’s friendly attitude and the cleanliness and order of the premises also made an impact. The overall ambiance was peaceful and welcoming, and the design had a professional and high-end appearance.

I think colors should reflect confidence, seriousness and professionalism; which would help the clients to feel secure and comfortable when they come to the office of the law firm.

Classic Counsel, Courtroom Oak, Justice Burgundy, Modern Legal, Trust Blue, Family Care, Estate Sage, Marble Grey, Navy & Gold are popular Law Firm Color Palettes.

Traditional Navy vs Modern Neutrals

These two styles are the most popular looks of most law firms. Let’s take a look at their differences.

Traditional Navy

Consider Classic Counsel, Navy & Gold and Courtroom Oak.

Best for:

  • Firms that specialize in corporate and business law.
  • Firms with a long history
  • High value clients come through their partners.High value clients go through their partners.
  • Brands aiming for a more professional and reliable image

Modern Neutrals

Think Modern Legal, Marble Grey and Estate Sage.

Best for:

  • New or small law firms.
  • Solo lawyers starting out
  • Companies that attract the majority of their clients via the online route.
  • Brands that desire to be open and approachable.

I think that Navy are the colours for most law firms: one warm colour. Is trusted without feeling cold.

How to use these palettes.

Website

  1. Make the lightest color your page background.
  2. Text and headings should be the darkest color.
  3. Choose one accent color for things such as “Book a consultation” buttons.

Signage & Packaging

  1. Use a color converter to convert from HEX to CMYK before printing.
  2. Assess the colors and materials for your office sign, letterhead and business cards.
  3. To make a test business card first as dark navy (nearly black) can look dark on paper.

Social Media

  1. Choose one background color for legal tips and case post updates.
  2. Use the same 2-3 colors throughout the text and quote graphics.
  3. Check your grid. It should be like it’s one muscle, not ten.

  --law-navy: #0B1F3A; /* text */
  --law-gold: #B08D57; /* buttons */
  --law-grey: #8A9BA8; /* borders */
  --law-stone: #E8E4DA; /* sections */
}

Add this to your stylesheet, then use var(--law-gold) anywhere you wish for this color.

Pro Tip

Try the colors on actual legal documents. Print your Letterhead, Business Card and Contract Cover page in your selected palette.

Use darker than the background color to make the text easier to read if it is difficult to read. Clients must be able to read each word fluently.

As I experienced with Barak Zai & Sons Law Associates, it is essential that there is a balance between color, cleanliness and interior design in a law firm office.

I think navy blue, cream and light gray colors can be used to create a professional and calm atmosphere in the space, with a hint of gold to give it a touch of richness and high quality.

A uniform color palette on letterheads, business cards and signage in the office creates brand consistency. Also, clear and dark-colored text will be crucial, so all legal documents are easily readable.

FAQ

Which colors are suitable for a law firm?

Grey, navy, burgundy and deep green are trusted and professional. Adding a gold or a warm colour accent add some class.

What is the ideal number of colors to incorporate into a law firm’s brand?

I suggest 3-4 colors: 1 dark, 1 light and 1-2 accents. Over that can get cluttered.

Do the above law firm color palettes have copyright restrictions?

Yes. Use them for your logo, website, letterhead or signs. No credit needed.

Is it better to use dark or light colors for a law firm?

The dark colors seem formal and mature. Light colors appear open and inviting, good for family practices and solo practices.
